OC Personality

To most people, Helena can come across as a rather confusing, and even infuriating person. To most, she often seems to be a very kind and compassionate person, always willing to lend a hand to those who need one. Due to this, people tend to find her oddly charming, and she has no problem befriending the people she needs to, even if it is for personal gain. She absolutely adores children, and spends a great deal of time with workers and children freed by the rooks, taking the time to read them stories and even sing for them on rare occasions. She has a strong love for assisting other people when they need it most, and can be a very charming young woman when she wants to be. Her dedication is often considered to be next to none, and once her mind is set to something, she tunnel visions, and won’t let up until she’s completed her task, even going as far as to risk her own life to complete even the most menial of tasks. Luckily, when her dedication gets her into trouble, her resourcefulness makes up for what she lacks in caution. She is known to be able to compose herself in the worst situations, and often uses her environment to her advantage, making her somewhat unpredictable as a fighter. She also tends to be very perceptive when not in heated situations, and can often point out the smallest of details most eyes might miss, even without eagle vision, allowing her to assess flaws in enemy tactics and fortifications. Despite all of the things one may find wrong with her, Helena often considers her biggest flaw to be her fear of rats. She cannot stand them, and will often have a meltdown when faced with the prospect of having to be in the same environment with them for mere seconds. This may be why Helena greatly prefers to be on rooftops and even the railroads, where she feels more at ease and can be much more agreeable as a person. Unfortunately, once someone gets to know Helena, which is hard to do, considering her trust is not easily earned due to past betrayals, her real colors come out. Helena tends to be a very moody person, and is often prone to fits of frustration and aggression when bothered or tired. She also gets very frustrated when people act lazy around her, and absolutely abhors slackers of all kinds. Thankfully, Helena does know how to have a bit of fun, and has shown to be extremely clever, and is exceptionally good at mind games of all sorts. She can get very sarcastic and lippy with her friends, all in good fun, and love to have a drink or two every now and again. Helena is not the type of eprson to just sit by and let life drag on. When she has a desire to be heard, she will not relent, standing under the idea that "scream loud enough and someone is bound to stop and listen". This does help her inspire comrades, and she is know to be very capable at rallying others to her side. The biggest surprise to most people is Helena's brutality, as, while aggressive, she never really comes off to people as the type of person who would mercilously hunt someone as she does. Even some of her friends fear asking about her past and why her need for vengeance is so powerful. Thankfully, once a close friend can get past her unfortunate flaws, it’s clear that Helena really is a very kind person, who just wants to do what’s best for everyone- she just isn’t sure how to go about it.

Love Interest

 Jacob Frye-

Helena first met Jacob after being introduced to the Frye twins by their mutual contact, Henry Green. When they first met, it was clear that Helena and Jacob were two peas in a pod, even if, outwardly, their dispositions differed. Both were clearly fixated on their hunts for Templars, and shared similar goals even if the people they were set upon differed. Jacob found Helena to be a very stimulating individual due to the amount of mystery that seemed to surround her, and even finding her to be a very charming person, as most did when they first met her. Helena, in turn, took immediate interest in Jacobs somewhat impulsive and care-free nature, almost envying his ability to ignore all the problems in the world and “Have fun”, not to mention his ability to rise from nothing begin budling one of the most powerful gangs in London.. She even had to admit, she found herself a bit drawn to him, though she wasn’t exactly sure of the nature of her attraction at the time.

It didn’t take long for the two to begin running missions together, their strengths and weaknesses seeming to complement one another perfectly. However, these seemed to be the only compliments between one another as they fully began to interact. It didn’t take long for Helena to become greatly irritated by Jacobs’s lack of regard for the damage his “fun” had been causing, and Jacob finding Helena’s need to take everything seriously, and not to mention how moody she could get, to be absolutely infuriating. Despite this, the two still seemed to be able to work extremely well together, even if minor arguments seemed to pop up from time to time.

Surprisingly, despite how often they argued (According to both of their siblings, they sounded like an old married couple from the start), It didn’t take Helena long at all to completely warm up to Jacob, and they two often spent a good amount of their free time talking, jesting, or getting into all kinds of trouble. Helena felt like she had found a part of her that was missing through his friendship, one that had vanished with the Civil War. Likewise, Jacob seemed to be almost enamored with Helena by this point, though he wasn’t likely to admit it to her. However, the closer he seemed to get to her, the farther back she’d try to pull, which only made him more interested in her, despite her attempts to avoid being anything more than comrades in arms with him.  Unfortunately, Jacob seemed to be just as determined as she was.

In an attempt to win some favor with her, and to try and pry for more of her background, Jacob saw fit to take some time to converse with Helena’s brother about her. While Richard was more than happy to discuss some of Helena’s likes and obsessions, he wouldn’t say a word about why she seemed to be so distant. This still didn’t stop him from continuing to probe her for information, though he was running out of options by this point. While it was menial at first, his constant pressing her for information soon began to drive Helena up the wall, and she quickly began losing her patience. He refused to relent however, and she eventually let her pent up anger out, giving him a sharp uppercut before storming off. Helena refused to talk to him for some time, which made working together seemingly impossible.

It wasn’t long after Helena’s silence that Helena was forced to speak up again as one of her primary targets had resurfaced: Walter Rowe. Desperate to finish the insanity Helena had decided that enough had been enough, and took off on her own to end Walter’s life. However, she once again recklessly walked into a trap, allowing herself to be blinded by her own personal rage. After being beaten and left for dead, much more harshly this time around, Helena was about ready to give up. That was, at least, until she was rescued by the man she had shunned, and close near dragged to safety before once again, passing out. She woke up some time later to a very concerned group, and a very angry Jacob. Through all the times she had lectured him on how reckless he had been, only she had wandered into a trap that almost had her dead. The silence continued between them, and at that point, it was that which hurt more than anything else. Helena felt she had truly lost another part of her, and was greatly surprised when Jacob had showed up with a gift for her. It was a simple book, but by this point, it meant the world to Helena to have such a good friend back, and maybe even more, finally being able to share a stupid joke or friendly punch every now and again. It was also by this point that she decided it best to revel the truths of her distance and past to her comrades, who helped her onto a quicker road to recovery from the trama.

It was from, this point that the two began forming what was clear to be more than a friendly relationship. sure, they still continued to argue over the stupidest things, and the two had, of course, exchanged a minor flirtation or two in the past, but by this point, everything seemed so much more meaningful to this. This became even more evident as the jealousy set in, at least on Helena’s side. She often began to fear losing him once again, considering how many people Jacob seemed to interact with on a daily basis, but her concerns were truly unfounded. Though he wasn’t nearly as jealous as Helena had a tendency of being, It was clear he too feared possibly losing her due to how attractive she could be considered by some, if one could look past what were defects at the time, and even losing her while she was undercover posing as everything from a noble to a prostitute.

Of course, the two continued to have arguments with one another, which was no surprise to anyone, but it began to become difficult for them to hide their true feelings from one another eventually, and they were grateful to finally have something more than death and chaos in their lives. Not that the petty arguments ever really stopped, but its how people knew they were close, right?

Character Background

The First years of Training- Born the second Child and first daughter to Master Assassin Nora Black and Irish Immigrant Brian Cutler (Born Brian Cullen) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1848, Helena had been part of the Assassin order since birth, training alongside her elder brother in the ways of the Creed since she was old enough to hold a sword. Helena’s mother was renewed within the North American order for her exceptional abilities, and, while her father wasn’t technically part of the order, he was a well-respected strategist and businessman who used everything her had to help further the Assassins cause. Her mother was in charge of a Local Sanctuary located just below the family Estate.

Even from a young age, Helena displayed remarkable prowess as an assassin, despite her distaste for swordplay and close quartered combat. While still capable at hand to and swordplay, Helena found her passion to lie in a much less personal form off killing: Stealth Gunplay, Poisons, and Ranged Tactics. Despite her natural talent, Helena still depended on her Parents a great deal to assist in her training and education, often looking to them for advice on near everything she did, and would soon even begin turning to other Assassins within the Sanctuary to help her assess her abilities. It was through these comrades that Helena was able to focus on learning everything and anything there was to know about more than just fighting, turning her into somewhat of a bookworm, and even began taking interests in other arts, especially music, much to her Family’s amusement. Helena’s pure focus on the ways of the Assassins often left her blind to the social aspects of life, as she always seemed to be absorbed in study, but that all changed when her younger sister was born.

In 1858, Nora and Brian were blessed with yet another beautiful baby girl, Elizabeth. Helena instantly fell in love with the girl, finally putting something above her training. She began to find a powerful love for children, and would often spend what little free time she had with local children and even orphans, wasting away the days in joyous manners, no cares in the world. At least, not at the time. It soon became apparent that Helena’s younger sister was born gravely ill, and would be unable to follow in her siblings footsteps. She required a great deal of attention, and, in spite of being shown powerful love by her entire family, was likely doomed to live an unfair and short life. But life was not done with its cruel surprises.

The American Civil War- In 1861, at the young age of 13, Helena was forced to put her training on hold as the American Civil War broke out across the nation, devastating both the North and the South. Clearly seeing now was not the time to focus on training, Helena’s brother and her father decided it best to pick up arms to help defend their home, the Union, and, most importantly, the Order. This left Helena, her mother, and her sister all on their own, but it wouldn’t stay that way for long. Deciding it was a good opportunity for Helena to get some real field experience, Nora left Elizabeth in the care of some neighbors, and took Helena to the front lines, both acting as nurses for Union soldiers, allowing Helena to see firsthand the chaos the world really was in. Nora knew that Templars were assisting in the revolts and sabotaging both sides of the War, causing chaos across the nation. Assassins on both sides did their best to try and route out the Templar issues, but the personal conflict and allegiances began to make it hard for the members of the United States order to trust on another, giving the Templars a true advantage.

It didn’t take long for Helena to come to the understanding that there were no children in warzones. The chaos around her shook her to the core, throwing away much of her innocence and ignorance of the reality of her world. Helena did her best to come to terms with what was going on within her country. How could we be fighting each other with bigger threats out there? The more she saw of the horrific injuries soldiers had obtained, the more treatments she did, the more terrified the girl began to become. Thankfully, Nora wasn’t the only person there to help keep Helena at Ease through the chaos. Helena had formed many a bond and friendship with the soldiers around her, one of the biggest being with one of the local commanding officers, Coronel Bradshaw Cullen. The Coronel acted as a Father figure towards Helena while her own father was away, guiding her and teaching her various tactics and uses of firearms. She looked up to him a great deal, despite her mother’s apparent distaste for the man.

Thankfully, her mother did give an approving eye towards one of Helena’s other companions, a young soldier by the name of Walter Rowe. Walter was 4 years Helena’s senior, but the two were very close to one another, even close enough to make people question the nature of their relationship. It was likely that the two did hold feelings for one another, though they never truly admitted to any romantic interaction with one another at the time. Despite the hard times, Helena seemed to be pulling small, but good things out of the chaos, be those friendships, or skills in medicine and fighting she had learned from the people around her. But the war would not be the final insult.

In 1865, as the war was finally coming to a close, Helena was more than ready to return home. But it seemed fate wouldn’t let her leave without one final scar. One day, after accompanying Walter to town in order to bring back supplies, the two returned to their stationed fort, only to return to a bloodbath. Close near all the soldiers in the Fort dead or dying, with only one standing and accompanied by men of unknown origin: Bradshaw. He made no attempt to hide what he had done, the reality crushing Helena as he spoke. He was a Templar. He informed her of betrayals and traitors on both sides, and slaughters similar to this one, a display of the Templars power. Helena wanted to kill him, but she couldn’t. It was then the final blow was struck, as the stock of Walters rifle struck her in the back of the head. With an unfeeling apology and a near insulting kiss to her head, Walter, Bradshaw, and the surrounding Templars left her there, hurt but alive, perhaps out of respect for love and family. Helena didn’t wake until a few days later, home again and family by her side: she was safe for the moment. But the damage had already been done. Helena felt nothing short of betrayed and humiliated, and soon became a somewhat cold shell of who she once was. Her faith was gone, and her trust had vanished. She could barely hold to the Creed anymore. She was only half the woman she used to be, with one fixation: Closure and Vengeance.

Arrival in London and Meeting the Frye Twins- Three years later, at the age of 20, Helena was a full-fledged Assassin, and her mission had become clear. She and her brother would be sent overseas to England to finish off War Traitors and Templars for the crimes committed during the war. And on the list of Traitors were the names she wished to see more than anything in the world: Walter and Bradshaw. Nora had suggested one of her contacts, Henry Green, to help the siblings get started on their search, and informed them that they would have a place to stay in the form of Nora’s own sister, Adeline.  With all this information considered, Helena was ready to go and finish what they had started, but would be put to delay as a final request came from her mother before Helena and her brother had departed: they were to take Elizabeth with them to seek out better treatment. It was then that Helena began to feel for something other than her mission once again, as the siblings set off for London, determined to complete their mission, and help save their sister.

<More will be added as her story progresses>

Autumn of Terror- In 1888, Helena was in America with her and Jacob's children when she heard Jacob had gone missing. Leaving her 14 year old daughter Elenora in the care of her parents, Helena and her 16 year old son Luther returned to London to assist Evie in locating their beloved family member and stopping The Ripper once and for all.
